  • Adanya kolaborasi memajukan kendaraan listrik Indonesia-Australia itu sejalan dengan komitmen pemerintah untuk mempercepat transisi ke energi bersih melalui kendaraan listrik.
  • Dalam sekitar satu bulan ke depan, akan ada peta jalan yang bisa diimplementasikan oleh kedua negara.

Rasanya, Indonesia terus melakukan terobosan baru untuk meningkatkan penggunaan kendaraan listrik di tanah air.

Sejumlah upaya telah dilakukan, seperti mendatangkan manufaktur kendaraan listrik untuk memasarkan produk elektrifikasinya, membangun infrastruktur yang mendukung mobilitas kendaraan listrik, membuat regulasi-regulasi mengenai kendaraan listrik, meringankan biaya perpajakan untuk pembelian kendaraan listrik, bahkan mengadakan moda transportasi umum yang berbasis kendaraan listrik.

Hal Itu hanya segelintir upaya pemerintah yang telah tercapai, dan mungkin masih banyak lagi yang sedang direncanakan untuk mencapai Indonesia yang bebas karbon di tahun 2060.

Tentu saja, ada! Baru-baru ini, Indonesia melalui Menteri Koordinator Bidang Kemaritiman dan Investasi (Marves) Ad Interim, Erick Thohir, dan Australia melalui Menteri Industri dan Sains, Edham Nurredin “Ed” Husic, menandatangani Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) atau nota kesepakatan mengenai pembentukan mekanisme bilateral kolaborasi memajukan kendaraan listrik (EV) Indonesia-Australia.

Penandatanganan MoU itu masih sangat segar, yaitu pada 23 November lalu yang berlokasi di kantor Kementerian BUMN, Jakarta, Kamis (23/11/2023).

Apa manfaat kolaborasi dengan Australia?

Berdasarkan Erick Thohir, kolaborasi memajukan kendaraan listrik Indonesia-Australia ini menjadi suatu penunjuk kepercayaan internasional terhadap potensi pengembangan industri kendaraan listrik Indonesia. Ia juga berpendapat bahwa kolaborasi ini akan menjadi suatu momentum besar, apalagi dengan terjadinya pergeseran ekonomi global yang saat ini mengarah ke daerah Asia. 

Erick Thohir juga berpendapat bahwa Indonesia dan Australia yang merupakan negara tetangga yang memiliki hubungan yang erat, baik dalam hubungan antarpemerintah, antarbisnis, maupun antarmasyarakat kedua negara ini. Hubungan yang terjalin erat selama ini,  menjadi pendorong untuk kedua negara dalam memperkuat kerjasama dalam meningkatkan pengembangan industri kendaraan listrik.  Apalagi, Indonesia dan Australia sama-sama punya sumber daya alam yang dapat disinergikan.

Adanya kolaborasi memajukan kendaraan listrik Indonesia-Australia itu sejalan dengan komitmen pemerintah untuk mempercepat transisi ke energi bersih melalui kendaraan listrik. Padatnya jumlah penduduk Indonesia, yang hampir menyentuh 315 juta, membuat kendaraan listrik dapat dijadikan solusi sejumlah persoalan lingkungan dan menjaga ketahanan energi nasional.

Selain menjadi solusi persoalan lingkungan dan menjaga ketahanan energi, pengembangan pasar kendaraan listrik Indonesia juga dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan ekonomi. Adanya pertumbuhan ekonomi juga nantinya akan mendorong pembukaan lapangan kerja baru bagi masyarakat. 

Lalu, sudah sejauh apa sih kolaborasi ini?

Nah, sampai saat ini baru dilakukan penandatanganan MoU saja, tetapi Erick Thohir berjanji dalam sekitar satu bulan ke depan, akan ada peta jalan yang bisa diimplementasikan oleh kedua negara, sehingga terdapat suatu bukti yang konkret untuk kemajuan persahabatan kedua negara ini.

Per Juni 2023 lalu, penjualan dan/atau penggunaan kendaraan listrik di Australia telah melampaui 100 ribu unit, dimana di Indonesia pada akhir tahun 2022 belum mencapai setengahnya (dengan sekitar 26 ribu unit). Jadi, bisa dibilang pasar kendaraan listrik di Australia lebih baik dari Indonesia. 

Bahkan Australia sendiri telah membuat baterai dan kendaraan listrik pada suatu skala yang kecil. Perusahaan-perusahaan seperti Feline, Gelion, dan Redflow membuat battery cells, dan yang lain, seperti Redearth dan Powerplus membangun sistem-sistem penyimpanan.

Kalau gitu ada permasalahan kendaraan listrik di Australia yang dapat kita pelajari?

Tentunya ada permasalahan yang bisa Indonesia mulai pikirkan dan kembangkan solusinya, yaitu masalah limbah baterai kendaraan listrik. Mengingat kendaraan listrik Australia yang telah melampaui 100 ribu unit ini, limbahnya menjadi suatu masalah yang serius. 

Berdasarkan Penelitian dari University of Technology Sydney (UTS), usia pemakaian sekitar 30 ribu ton baterai dari mobil listrik di Australia akan berakhir pada tahun 2030. Jumlah ini akan terus meningkat dengan 360 ribu ton pada tahun 2040 dan 1,6 juta ton di tahun 2050.

Limbah tersebut rupanya membawa tiga ancaman, yaitu risiko kebakaran di tempat pembuangan jika ada kerusakan atau kebocoran, dampak lingkungan, dan ancaman kesehatan jika bahan kimia yang berbahaya dalam baterai terpapar atau berpindah tempat melalui saluran air atau tanah. Bahan kimia yang berbahaya dalam jumlah besar bisa menyebabkan masalah kesehatan seperti masalah pernapasan, infertilitas, penyakit otak, dan kanker.
