Salah satu indikator kemakmuran negara di dunia dapat dilihat melalui pemenuhan dan pemanfaatan terhadap energi listrik nya.Diketahui sampai dengan tahun 2015 sumber dari energi primer dunia 80% nya didominasi oleh sektor energi fosil seperti batubara, minyak, dan gas.

Sisa dari pemanfaatan tersebut bersumber dari energi non fosil atau melalui energi baru dan terbarukan. Melihat hal tersebut terdapat urgensi untuk dilakukannya transisi energi ke arah energi bersih yaitu energi baru dan terbarukan, hal ini dikarenakan sifat dari sumber energi terbarukan khususnya yang bersifat berkelanjutan apabila dikelola dengan baik.

Sedangkan pada sumber energi fosil dapat habis dan menimbulkkan pencemaran lingkungan dalam hal pengelolaan dan pemanfaatannya.

Permintaan akan kebutuhan energi kian meningkat sejalan dengan pertumbuhan penduduk dan perkembangan teknologi, namun demikian sumber dari energi tersebut masih diperoleh melalui sumber energi tak terbarukan yang akan habis, maka dari itu dibutuhkan upaya transisi energi yang salah satu manfaatnya untuk terpenuhinya kebutuhan energi listrik dalam negeri.

Jenis-jenis dari energi terbarukan tersebut juga dapat berkembang sumber nya melalui inovasi dan perkembangan teknologi yang ada.

Pemanfaatan energi terbarukan tidak hanya untuk mesin pembangkit listrik saja, namun didukung dengan keinginan masyarakat global untuk mewujudkan sumber energi alternatif yang lebih ramah lingkungan, hal ini menyebabkan para desainer peralatan gadget untuk melirik perangkat ataupun alat yang mampu menghasilkan energi ramah lingkungan.

Melalui adanya inovasi dan transisi energi terbarukan yang dilakukan secara bertahap diharapkan dapat menciptakan sumber energi bersih yang berkelanjutan dan selanjutnya dapat terpenuhinya kebutuhan energi listrik yang secara langsung dapat menciptakan ketahanan energi dalam negeri.
