15 Jakarta Residents Receive OTT for Careless Garbage Disposal

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government deployed dozens of drones or unmanned aircraft on Sunday, November 6, 2022, to take action against residents who litter on a car free day (HBKB) or car free day (CFD).

Asep Kuswanto, Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Environment Agency, stated that the drone capture operation (OTT) was carried out in collaboration with the Communications and Information Office. This activity was carried out in order to take action against violators who littered on CFDs at the provincial, city, and location where residents were identified as littering levels.

Asep Kuswanto, the head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Environment Agency, stated that 15-19 residents were found littering after being monitored by 11 drones and conventional cameras. His party received a fine of up to IDR 710,000 as a result of the arrest, and four people were given social sanctions for picking up trash at the location.

The provincial level HBKB enforcement posts in Sudirman Thamrin were held in seven locations, including in front of the Jaya Building, Jalan Sumenep, the Hotel Indonesia Kempinski, the Sudirman Statue flyover, the Chase Plaza Building, the CIMB Building, and the FX Sudirman Mall. There were a total of 194 supervisory officers deployed.

Asep explained that the activity of catching hands with drones was also in accordance with the previous directive of DKI Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono. He ensures that this activity is carried out on a regular basis as he acknowledge it more (Makin Tahu Indonesia).

Yogi Ikhwan, Public Relations of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency, stated that, in addition to CFD in Sudirman-Thamrin, OTT for littering was also carried out at other CFD locations in five administrative city areas. According to him, the legal basis for this OTT is Perda No. 3 of 2013. Litterers can be fined up to Rp. 500 thousand.
