Hydropower Plant Project in Gayo Lues, What Did The Local Government Say About It?

Tuesday (25/1/2022) The Regent of Gayo Lues, H. Muhammad Amru, held a zoom meeting with the Investors of Sungai Tripa’s Hydropower Plant Project to request a recommendation from the local government of Gayo Lues Regency to make Sungai Tripa a source of this Hydropower Project.

“We hope that in 2024 construction has started, and the 2030 project has been completed in the time being,” said Mr. Li Xuejia, Tuesday (25/1) through a Zoom Meeting in the Gayo Lues Regent’s office.

Sungai Tripa is one of the natural resources in the Gayo Lues Regency area. Because its existence has extraordinary potential, foreign investors from Hong Kong are very interested in developing renewable energy in Aceh. Therefore, the investors want to make the Sungai Tripa a source for the Hydroelectric Power Project (PLTA).

Li Xuejia said that previously he had studied the potential of Gayo Lues so that his company had designed the construction for three dams of Sungai Tripa. Then have determined the coordinates by making a work plan regarding the necessary stages. That way, his group said that detailed planning, including licensing, was needed. Therefore, they ask for recommendations and full support from the Regional Government of Gayo Lues Regency so that this project can be started and immediately implemented because it is extensive and requires a very long time.

Responding to this, the Regent of Gayo Lues, H. Muhammad Amru, admitted that he would fully support the Sungai Tripa hydropower project, which the Hong Kong investor will develop. He said, “The Regional Government of Gayo Lues Regency will accept the offer of cooperation; this is also to support the economic growth of the people in Gayo Lues Regency. He hopes that this cooperation offer is not just an offer like previous investors, where when the recommendations have been given, and the cooperation has been accepted, the investors do not even carry out the project well.” said Regent Amru.

Therefore, representing the local government, he hopes that the Tripa River hydropower project can be carried out as well as possible until it is completed, especially considering that this project is enormous, so it is hoped that the establishment of this hydropower plant will be able to support the prosperity of the community and will provide significant benefits for many people.
