Mewujudkan target penurunan emisi guna menjaga bumi kita menjadi tanggung jawab semua pihak. Cathay, sebagai Travel Lifestyle, bekerja sama dengan Society of Renewable Energy (SRE) dengan menanam 1.000 pohon mangrove di Pulau Pramuka, Kepulauan Seribu pada Jumat, 3 Mei 2024 yang lalu.
Pulau Pramuka menjadi salah satu pulau terdampak dari adanya perubahan iklim, pulau yang dihuni sekitar 1,200 orang pada tahun ini membutuhkan mangrove dalam menjaga abrasi. Sudah terbukti, mangrove menjadi penyalamat pulau ini dari penurunan muka tanah dan abrasi .
Sebanyak 70 relawan yang tergabung dari Cathay, travel agent, dan relawan SRE beserta masyarakat lokal Pulau Pramuka ikut serta dalam kegiatan penanaman pohon tersebut. Kegiatan ini merupakan inisiatif Cathay yaitu 1 Ticket, 1 Tree yang sudah dijalankan dari dua tahun yang lalu dengan jumlah pohon mangrove sebanyak 4.600 pohon.
Country Manager Cathay untuk Indonesia, Tony Sham, mengatakan, “1 Ticket, 1 Tree merupakan komitmen Cathay dalam mendukung komunitas lokal, memulihkan habitat, dan mendorong ketahanan iklim. Hal ini sejalan dengan aspirasi kami untuk menjadi yang terdepan dalam kepemimpinan berkelanjutan.”
Guna mencapai target yang lebih cepat, Tony menyampaikan aksi kolaborasi bersama komunitas menjadi cara efektif dalam memperluas dan mempernjang dampak baik yang diciptakan. Hal itu disampaikan saat pembukaan bersama masyarakat di ruang auditorium Pulau Pramuka.
Inisiatif 1 Ticket, 1 Tree ini merupakan aksi kolektif Cathay yang tersebar di Singapura, Filipina, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, dan Kamboja dalam periode kampanye tertentu. Tahun 2024, target penanaman sebanyak 7.500 pohon se Asia Tenggara dengan 1.000 pohon yang ditanam di Pulau Pramuka, Indonesia.
Tahun ini juga menandai tonggak penting dalam perjalanan inisiatif 1 Ticket, 1 Tree dengan Cathay menanam total 30.000 pohon mangrove di Asia Tenggara sejak tahun 2021.
“Perubahan iklim ini membutuhkan aksi kolektif generasi muda, penanaman mangrove di Pulau Pramuka menjadi contoh aksi adaptasi perubahan iklim sekaligus mitigasi dalam sekali tarikan nafas kegiatan. Society of Renewable Energy (SRE), berkomitmen menanam 200 mangrove dari total 1.000 yang ditanam untuk menyemangati generasi muda dan masyarakat local.” Ujar Zagy Yakana Berian, pendiri gerakan anak muda yang tersebar di 47 kampus.
Dalam paparannya, Zagy menyampaikan masyarakat harus bersama generasi muda menjadi garda terdepan menjaga bumi ini. Dukungan dan kolaborasi lintas institusi menjadi penting bagi Indonesia. Maka dari itu, tokoh masyarakat memiliki peran penting untuk mengajak seluruh komunitas lokal dalam perjuangan iklim ini.
“Kami warga Pulau Pramuka memang sangat memerlukan penanaman pohon mangrove untuk menjaga garis pantai. Inisiatif 1 Ticket, 1 Tree dari Cathay merupakan bukti kongkris yang harus kami dukung dan jaga.
