Jakarta, 9 Mei 2023 — Welcoming the annual conference and exhibition, the Indonesian Renewable Energy Society (METI) launched the 11th Indonesia EBTKE Conference and Exhibition (EBTKE ConEx) 2023 in-person at the DG of NREEC Hall, Jakarta on Tuesday (9/5). The launching was attended by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia, represented by the Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (NREEC) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dadan Kusdiana; Chairman I of METI, Bobby Gafur Umar; as well as the Steering Committee Chair of the Indonesia EBTKE ConEx 2023, Eka Satria. In its eleventh years of organizing, the event will be held on 12th – 14th July 2023 at ICE BSD, Tangerang. This event is expected to serve as a reference for industry in realizing on how importance the energy transition and the use of sustainable energy for the future. The event will also present a series of comprehensive activities and perspectives to advocate sustainable adoption of energy, which is eventually successful in achieving the targeted energy mix of renewable energy for 23% by 2025.
“The Government of Indonesia is still committed to carrying out the energy transition and continues to optimize the use of new and renewable energy sources. Several measures such as early retirement of Coal-Fired Power Plants (CFPPs) and utility development of solar, geothermal energy as well as other renewable energies continue to be implemented to achieve the target of net zero emission by 2060. Therefore, I highly hope that Indonesia EBTKE ConEx 2023 will be a place for all stakeholders in providing support for energy transition to be on track. I also expect that this event will run well and not only becoming the peak of the event, but also becoming the culmination of our commitment,” emphasized the Director General of NREEC, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia, Dadan Kusdiana.
Learning from the success of Indonesia EBTKE ConEx 2021, which was held virtually for five days, it was succeeded in bringing 5,000 participants from 48 countries. It also organized 6 Plenary Sessions, 3 Summits, and 10 Parallel Sessions, by presenting 31 Keynote Speeches, 30 moderators and 156 speakers. Therefore, the Steering Committee Chair of the Indonesia EBTKE ConEx 2023, Eka Satria, wishes that this year’s event will repeat the success and could generate comprehensive and fruitful discussions, which turns commitments into actions in line with the theme carried out this year, namely ‘From Commitment to Action: Safeguarding Energy Transition Towards Indonesia Net Zero Emissions 2060’.
“The 11th Indonesia EBTKE ConEx 2023 is part of the Annual National Event of the 1st Indonesia Clean Energy Week (ICEW), which is expected to be able to provide information to the global community about Indonesia’s commitment and efforts in developing and utilizing sustainable clean energy through energy transition towards Net Zero emissions by mid-century, as well as attracting the investment of national and international investors to achieve this goal,” said the Steering Committee Chair of the Indonesia EBTKE ConEx 2023, Eka Satria.
The ICEW is a joint activity between the Indonesian Renewable Energy Society (METI) and the Indonesian Energy Conservation and Efficiency Society (MASKEEI), which is carried out in parallel as two separate events focusing on complementary discussions. The 11th Indonesia EBTKE ConEx 2023 will discuss important and strategic aspects of production or supply side, while the 4th Indonesian Energy Efficiency and Conservation Conference and Exhibition (IEECCE) will discuss important and strategic aspects of the clean energy utilization (demand side) based on national and global perspective in a complete and sustainable manner.
The 11th Indonesia EBTKE ConEx 2023 activities in the context of ICEW include conferences, special sessions, training, podcasts, business matching and business presentations, focus group discussions, showcase corners, green job fairs, greentech or cleantech startups, and exhibitions on technology, policy, and solution practices related to clean sustainable energy.
Director of Dyandra Promosindo, Michael Bayu A. Sumarijanto, added that the last EBTKE ConEX was held in 2021 and this year is the first in-person EBTKE ConEX after the last in-person EBTKE ConEX held in 2019.
“The embodiment of renewable energy in Indonesia certainly has a long journey. This year, we assist the development of the country in managing the renewable energy by organizing the EBTKE ConEX 2023 in-person. In realizing the Net Zero Emissions in Indonesia, we are also supported by METI, MASKEEI, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and other stakeholders.”
