Per saat ini, aset-aset perseroan yang masih dalam portofolio energi batubara adalah PT Kideco Jaya Agung yang resmi diakusisi pada tahun 2017. Kideco menempati posisi ketiga sebagai perusahaan Batubara terbesar di Indonesia, setelah Kaltim PT Prima Coal dan PT Adaro Indonesia.
Langkah mengurangi ketergantungan pendapatan dari sektor energi fosil, ini ditempuh oleh Indika melalui pencatatan saham dari Kideco ke publik lewat IPO. Melihat ini, permintaan batubara di Asia Pasifik masih sangat tinggi. Tetapi kukuhnya INDY untuk melakukan transisi energi sudah mutlak dan patut untuk diacungi jempol.
“Kami tidak bisa melihat saat ini saja berkaitan dengan transisi energi. Pemerintah sudah aware dengan mengeluarkan RUPTL baru 2021 sampai 2030 terkait energi terbarukan. Itu semua merupakan harapan dan cita-cita kita bersama.

Masa transisi energi merupakan periode kritikal yang berdampak terhadap kondisi keuangan hingga tenaga kerja dalam perseroan.
Dalam jangka pendek sekarang ini, batubara masih akan memiliki peranan besar terhadap energi dunia. Pada tahun 2021, INDY membidik produksi Batubara sebanyak 37 juta ton, naik dari 33 juta ton pada tahun 2020.
Di sisi lain, divestasi INDY terhadap menyelesaikan penjualan 51% saham MBSS kepada PT Galley Andhika Arnawama senilai US$41,41 juta pada 8 Oktober 2021 lalu.
