In Indonesia, there is an enormous potential for renewable energy. The government cannot do it alone; industry-wide cooperation, including that of businesses, is essential. Furthermore, a sustainable business requires the usage of clean energy.
In order to capture the solar energy that shines on the roof of the PT Sanghiang Perkasa factory in Cikampek, West Java, no fewer than 2,970 panels are perfectly arranged and prepared to do so. BUMN PT Sanghiang Perkasa (Kalbe Nutritionals) received funding from PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) for the installation of several solar panels or Solar Power Plants (PLTS) at the Cikampek factory facility in West Java.
According to BNI Corporate Secretary Mucharom, this action represents a concrete example of the company’s support for renewable energy initiatives. PT Kalbe Farma Tbk’s subsidiary, known as KALBE Nutritionals in the marketplace, manufactures nutritional products (KLBF). The operation of the Rooftop Solar Power Plant (PLTS) is being developed as a green project.
Early in 2022, according to I Gede Putu Eka Putra, Director of Supply Chain Management & Innovation at PT Sanghiang Perkasa, preparations for installing and testing Rooftop PLTS began. 1,603 kilo watt peak (kWp) is the maximum capacity that may be supported by Rooftop PLTS.
Since July, when it has been fully operational, PLTS Atap KALBE Nutritionals has been able to produce an average of 5,000–6,000 kilowatt hours (kWh), or 150,000–180,000 kWh per month.

About 20% to 30% of the factory’s total energy during the past month has come from the electrical energy generated. Additionally, KALBE Nutritionals can reduce energy expenses by 2% to 5%. Additionally, it is predicted that this rooftop PLTS will be able to cut carbon emissions by as much as 2,104.66 tons annually.
The PLTS Roof is now being worked on by KALBE Nutritionals, PT Aruna Cahaya Pratama (Aruna PV), and PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI). BNI supports Aruna PV financially in its capacity as a provider of PLTS development services.
Putu claims that the strategic partnership between KALBE Nutritionals and Aruna PV, as well as the green banking assistance from BNI in PLTS Roof, is an example of the 17th Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) pillar, which is cooperation.
Additionally, using sustainable energy in industry has the potential to significantly affect both business operations and the environment. The intensity of power emissions for industrial production might be decreased, according to Fabby Tumiwa, chairman of the Indonesian Solar Energy Association (AESI).
Fabby has a calculation as an example. Around 0.8 tons per megawatt hour of energy emissions are produced on average in Java and Bali (MWh). In other words, the intensity of electricity emissions can decrease to 0.56 tons per MWh if PLTS supplies 30% of industrial electricity.

The contractor on this PLTS project, PT Aruna Cahaya Pratama (Aruna PV) Director Audwin Purwadi, also expressed his gratitude to BNI and Kalbe Nutritionals for working together to transform energy sources into green concepts in productive areas.
For your information, BNI has distributed Rp. 10.3 trillion in credit to the new and renewable energy sector as of the first quarter of 2022. The bank operating under the BBNI issuer code has also disbursed finance of Rp. 6.8 trillion for pollution control and Rp. 23.3 trillion for the management of water and waste water.
