The Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has published investor guidelines and a feasibility report for potential investors in the agricultural industry. Through these guidelines, the government recommends investors focus more on geothermal greenhouses. This allows for year-round crop production.

The Ministry’s guidelines also include incentives for greenhouse investment. Ziraat Bank and Agricultural Credit Cooperatives offer low-interest investment and working capital loans to investors interested in greenhouses. These investors can access 50% grants under the Program to Support Rural Development Investments as well as 55–65% grants under the Instruments Program for Pre-Accession-Rural Development Assistance (IPARD).

Most of the greenhouses in Turkey are used for growing vegetables. 92% of Turkey’s greenhouses are used for growing vegetables, 7% for growing fruits and 1% for ornamental plants. Crops can be grown for 11 months of the year in a greenhouse with a geothermal heating system.

There are about 320,000 greenhouse decares in Turkey. These 20,000 greenhouse treatments are operated by modern manufacturers such as Turkeli. Turkey has started to realize the geothermal greenhouses.

The Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forests has approved the establishment of an organized geothermal greenhouse zone in the Efeler district in the second half of 2020. The zone will affect an area of ​​630 decares. Geothermal energy is used to minimize energy costs. The existence of a geothermal greenhouse makes farmers more comfortable at work. In addition, employment opportunities will increase, so that it can become a sustainable business. The land in Efeler can also be a center for agricultural investment.

A geothermal greenhouse project in the Diyadin district of Agri, Turkey has been signed. The greenhouse is built on 40 decares of land and production is carried out using geothermal resources in the Diyadin district. There will be a total of 1000 decares of greenhouse packages in 1300 decares. The construction of the greenhouse in Agri will immediately employ about 1200 people. This will increase the economy.
