In Indonesia, there are 13 geothermal plants with an energy amount of 2,276 MW, and 6 of them are already operating and self-managed with a capacity of 672 megawatts (MW), consisting of Kamojang and Karaha in West Java, Sibayak in North Sumatra, Lumut Balai in South Sumatra, Ulubelu in Lampung, and Lahendong in North Sulawesi. This makes Indonesia in the 2nd position with the most geothermal power installation.

Apart from being a source of energy for Geothermal Power Plants, PT. Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) also utilizes geothermal energy for potato farming in Garut and Kamojang, areas where Pertamina Geothermal’s geothermal power plant operate. This has an impact on the profits obtained by farmers can increase up to 10 times compared to conventional farming.
