Pada saat Covid-19, Gede Andika yang merupakan sosok pemuda, pulang ke kampung halamannya di Desa Pamuteran, Kabupaten Buleleng, Bali. Karena saat itu anjuran Pemerintah untuk belajar online (daring) dari rumah, dia melihat anak-anak yang tidak sekolah karena berbagai masalah, seperti tidak mempunyai media pendukung, tidak melek digital, dll. Maka, dia langsung memikirkan bagaimana solusi dari mirisnya pendidikan di Pamuteran. Bahkan dia sampai memutuskan untuk membatalkan beasiswa kuliah S2nya di UK, Eropa.
Pada akhirnya dia membuka kelas Bahasa Inggris yang diberi nama KREDIBALI (Kreasi Edukasi Bahasa dan Literasi Lingkungan). Kelas ini berwawasan lingkungan karena bagi anak yang ingin mengikuti les tersebut, diharapkan mengumpulkan sampah untuk ditukarkan. Pendidikan yang tersedia di KREDIBALI yaitu bagi siswa jenjang SD sampai SMP. Andika menyebutkan bahwa latar belakang memfokuskan Bahasa Inggris karena Bali merupakan tempat pariwisata yang banyak didatangi oleh turis.
Setelah banyak siswa yang masuk KREDIBALI, manfaat terlihat signifikan. Beberapa siswa menjadi juara Olimpiade dan Pidato Bahasa Inggris Tingkat Provinsi. Andika tidak menyangka pencapaiannya begitu berharga, bebebarapa siswa yang merupakan anak petani atau kurang mampu menjadi anak yang berprestasi.
Dampak juga terasa untuk warga sekitar khususnya orang tua. Karena selain pendidikan Bahasa Inggis yang didapat oleh anak, pendidikan tentang literasi lingkungan pun menambah. Para orang tua semakin paham tentang pemilihan sampah. Selain itu, warga sekitar dapat menukarkan sampah untuk dikonversi menjadi beras ke Plastic Exchange. Dikabarkan bahwa beberapa lansia sudah mendapatkan bantuan beras dari konversi sampah tersebut.
Andika berharap agar program ini tidak pernah berhenti atau terus berlangsung, diperlukan kesadaran dari berbagai sektor terutama instansi dan warga sekitar. Dia juga mengatakan bahwa anak-anak memerlukan motivasi dalam mengembangkan potensinya untuk lebih ditingkatkan sehingga bisa capai kompetisi tingkat nasional maupun internasional.

Today, I went to the beach with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
