Bandung, 4 Maret 2023 – Bertempat di Kantor PTPN VIII Bandung, UPC Renewables dan PTPN VIII menandatangani perpanjangan perjanjian kerjasama dalam rangka pengembangan, pembangunan, dan pengoperasian Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Bayu (PLTB). Kerjasama ini terkait dengan pemanfaatan lahan PTPN VIII yang terletak di Afdeling Ciemas, Kebun Pasir Badak, Kabupaten Sukabumi sebagai lokasi usulan PLTB Sukabumi 150 MW.

Kerjasama ini akan memberikan manfaat tidak hanya bagi PTPN VIII dan Pemerintah Daerah dengan mengoptimalkan aset lahan yang ada, namun juga akan menjadi penggerak perekonomian masyarakat setempat melalui pengembangan pusat wisata petualangan terpadu dengan Ciletuh Palabuhanratu UNESCO Global Geopark (CPUGGp) yang dapat direalisasikan melalui pembangunan 150MW PLTB Sukabumi.

Direktur PTPN VIII, Didik Prasetyo mengatakan, ”Melalui penandatanganan perpanjangan perjanjian kerjasama ini, saya mendorong agar PLTB Sukabumi dapat dikembalikan kapasitasnya menjadi 150MW. Proyek di kebun Pasir Badak, Afdeling Ciemas akan berpengaruh terhadap perekonomian masyarakat sekitar maupun PTPN VIII. Prinsip Kerjasama yang dibangun yaitu saling menguntungkan dan dapat meningkatkan potensi pendapatan melalui optimalisasi aset lahan PTPN VIII. Setelah hasil kelayakan usaha ini selesai, saya akan mendorong kepada para pemangku kepentingan khususnya di Kementerian BUMN untuk menyetujui proyek prioritas ini.”

Proyek PLTB Sukabumi 150MW telah ditetapkan sebagai Proyek Strategis Provinsi Jawa Barat dan merupakan salah satu Proyek Infrastruktur Prioritas (P1) dalam Peraturan Presiden nomor 87 tahun 2021 tentang Percepatan Pembangunan Kawasan Rebana dan Jawa Barat Bagian Selatan. 

COO PT UPC Renewables Indonesia dan Direktur UPC Sukabumi Bayu Energi, Dacre Purchase mengatakan, “Selepas masa pandemik, permintaan listrik energi terbarukan di jaringan kelistrikan Jawa Barat meningkat secara eksponensial, diantaranya dari Microsoft, Amazon dan berbagai pusat data dengan penggunaan MW tinggi, serta Kawasan Industri JISC Jatiluhur. Seiring dengan meningkatnya permintaan listrik ini, terutama untuk Energi Terbarukan, maka kapasitas terpasang Proyek PLTB Sukabumi harus setidaknya 150MW – yang hanya dapat memasok sekitar 30% dari permintaan listrik. Untungnya, sumberdaya angin di lokasi spesifik ini juga memberikan peluang untuk menambah kapasitas hingga lebih dari 100MW di masa mendatang.”

Proyek PLTB Sukabumi 150MW merupakan bagian dari MOU yang ditandatangani oleh UPC dan PLN di tahun 2015 disaksikan oleh Presiden Joko Widodo; juga di tahun 2018, pada saat inaugurasi PLTB Sidrap 75MW, PLTB pertama di Indonesia yang dibangun dan dioperasikan oleh UPC, Presiden kembali mengumumkan dukungannya terhadap proyek PLTB Sukabumi melalui YouTube resminya

RUPTL PLN telah mengalokasikan total kuota kapasitas PLTB sebesar 260 MW untuk wilayah Jawa bagian Barat yang dapat diisi oleh Proyek PLTB Sukabumi 150 MW yang saat ini sudah siap untuk maju ke tahap pembiayaan dan konstruksi sesegera mungkin di 2023.
