BRI and Smoot collaborate to contribute to achieving the renewable energy mix target. BRI Finance (BRIF) invites PT Smoot to create an electric motorcycle for operational vehicles. This collaboration is carried out in the context of implementing environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG).

On June 21, 2022, the electric motorcycle used as an operational vehicle for BRIF was officially launched. The use of electric motorcycles is expected to expand the electric motorcycle financing market. In addition, to increase the market share of consumer financing and support government programs in increasing environmentally-friendly vehicles.

BRI chose to collaborate with Smoot, which is an electric motorcycle manufacturer in Indonesia that has the same commitment as BRIF. Both companies are committed to moving towards a more environmentally friendly and sustainable business. Thus, this collaboration can help accelerate the transition to renewable energy in Indonesia.

The electric motor produced by Smoot is used as an operational vehicle as a means of implementing ESG. In this case, BRI and Smooth participate in green automotive.

Currently, Smoot is marketing the Smoot Tempur variant, which is a smart electric motor because it is connected to a smartphone. Smooth also provides an application that is used for the needs of its electric motor products. In the Smoot application, there are many features, such as the condition of the motor and battery, cashless payment for top-up km, GPS tracker, turning off the engine, and reading travel track records. This Smoot Tempur product is priced at IDR 16.5 million on the road (OTR).

The Smoot Tempur is equipped with a lithium battery with a capacity of 64V 22.5Ah, which when fully charged can cover a distance of up to 70 km. The electric motor engine has a capacity of 1,500W, and is capable of driving at speeds of up to 60 km/h.

For charging the battery, Smoot carries the concept of a battery swap. Where batteries are exchanged at battery exchange stations or swap points. Currently, there are more than 400 swap points in the Greater Jakarta area.

The battery exchange is also free. Smoot users only need to pay the battery swap rate using the quota system. The quota price is divided into three options. First, 100 km for IDR 20,000, 250 km for IDR 45,000, and 500 km for IDR 80,000.

Smoot took this strategic step to have a positive impact on both parties, in accordance with the commitment of the two companies to create a sustainable business. In addition, through this collaboration, Smoot wants to participate in the success of the government’s program in terms of electric vehicles. Then, both companies will be able to improve each other’s performance in sustainable business.

As we know, the government targets the production of battery-based electric vehicles by 2030 to reach 2 million units with four wheels or more, and 13 million units with two wheels.

Thus, it is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 29% by 2030, and Indonesia will be zero emissions by 2060.
