In addition to providing electricity, PLN also opens up opportunities for cooperation in carbon trading through the Renewable Energy Certificate (REC), which is an important instrument for reducing emissions to support the development of green industries in Indonesia.

Through the Renewable Energy Certificate (REC), it is proof that PLN has realized cooperation in fulfilling electricity from renewable energy plants. This collaboration can have a positive impact on the industry, namely meeting the target of 100 percent of the use of renewable energy that is transparent and internationally recognized, and without incurring investment costs for infrastructure development. Not only that, the industry has also proven its existence in contributing to reducing carbon emissions by using energy from renewable energy plants in Indonesia.

The Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) purchase contract also has an impact on the government which is pushing for the energy transition to carbon neutral by 2060. It is hoped that the massive REC purchase contract can encourage the growth of the national renewable energy market so as to accelerate the achievement of the energy mix target.
