Menteri Koordinator Bidang Kemaritiman dan Investasi Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan mengatakan bahwa pengembangan kawasan industri hijau seluas 30.000 hektare itu dilaksanakan melalui kerja sama dengan China dan Uni Emirat Arab (EUA).

“Industri baterai yang akan dibangun di sini nantinya tidak hanya berbasis nikel, tetapi juga non-nikel. Kita juga akan membangun pabrik panel surya dan precision engineering manufacturing facility,” katanya dalam keterangan, dikutip Rabu (22/12/2021).

Beberapa pembangkit listrik yang akan dibangun, antara lain solar panel, hydropower, maupun pembangkit tenaga gas. Langkah itu dilakukan untuk mendukung upaya global menekan emisi karbon, sekaligus menghadirkan green product untuk menciptakan nilai tambah. Adapun, kawasan itu disebut memerlukan investasi yang tidak sedikit, yakni US$132 miliar atau setara dengan Rp1.848 triliun. Dalam perkembangannya, Luhut melalui akun Instagramnya menyebutkan bahwa proyek itu telah menghimpun komitmen investasi hingga US$130 miliar.

Beberapa proyek rencananya akan dibangun dalam kawasan itu, seperti petrochemical, electronic alumine, steel, new energy battery 1, new energy battery 2, industrial silicon, polycrystalline silicon, dan solar panel.

Sementara itu, Presiden Joko Widodo menyebut bahwa kawasan industri tersebut akan ditopang oleh pembangkit listrik tenaga air (PLTA) atau hydropower dari Sungai Kayan di Kalimantan Utara. “[Sumber] Energi-nya dari hydropower di Kayan. Industri yang akan masuk antre ternyata. Saya kaget,” katanya ketika memberikan sambutan saat membuka 10th Indo EBTKE ConEx 2021, Senin (22/11/2021).

Pembangunan Kawasan Industri Hijau di Kabupaten Bulungan, Kalimantan Utara (Kaltara). telah berlangsung Selasa (21/12/2021). Kawasan Industri Hijau Indonesia (KIHI) ini dirancang seluas 30.000 hektar setelah melalui beberapa tahap pengembangan.

Pembangunan kawasan ini merupakan hasil kerja sama investasi antara Indonesia dengan China serta Uni Emirat Arab (UEA). Menko Bidang Kemaritiman dan Investasi (Marves) Luhut B Pandjaitan mengatakan, kawasan ini merupakan future industries. Oleh sebab itu, industri baterai yang akan dibangun nantinya tidak hanya berbasis nikel, tetapi juga non nikel. “Kita juga akan membangun pabrik solar panel dan precision engineering manufacturing facility,” jelas Luhut dalam siaran pers Kemenko Marves, Rabu (22/12/2021).

Seperti pembangunan pabrik alumunium smelter untuk mempercepat hilirisasi dan mendukung sektor pembangunan di Indonesia. Kawasan ini juga dapat dimanfaatkan dalam perkembangan pembangunan new energy battery yang dapat mendukung program Pemerintah terkait penurunan emisi karbon pada 2030 melalui penggunaan kendaraan listrik. Adapun rencana pembangunan fasilitas di kawasan industri hijau ini, yaitu pembangunan pelabuhan, bandara, hotel dan akomodasi karyawan.
