Keresahan dan kesadaran para musisi telah melahirkan ‘sonic/panic’, sebuah album bertema krisis iklim dari 13 musisi Indonesia.
Jakarta, 25 Oktober 2023 – Berangkat dari kesadaran dan kekhawatiran akan krisis iklim, 13 musisi Indonesia dari berbagai genre bergabung untuk sebuah album kompilasi bertajuk ‘sonic/panic’. Di album ini, musisi ternama dalam negeri seperti Endah N Rhesa, Tony Q Rastafara, dan Tuantigabelas turut berpartisipasi dalam menuangkan ekspresi kreatif mereka untuk menyuarakan salah satu isu paling darurat di dunia.
Tiap musisi yang terlibat di album ‘sonic/panic’ membawa karakter dan gaya musik mereka masing-masing ke dalam kolaborasi ini. Musisi tersebut adalah Iga Massardi, Endah N Rhesa, Navicula, Tony Q Rastafara, Tuantigabelas, Iksan Skuter, FSTVLST, Made Mawut, Nova Filastine, Guritan Kabudul, Kai Mata, Rhythm Rebels, dan Prabumi. ‘sonic/panic’ sendiri diproduksi oleh Alarm Records, label rekaman sadar iklim pertama di Indonesia yang dibentuk oleh ke-13 musisi yang terlibat dalam inisiatif ini.
Gagasan untuk membuat album kompilasi ‘sonic/panic’ muncul setelah ke-13 musisi ini berkumpul di Bali beberapa bulan lalu guna mengikuti workshop serta diskusi soal isu iklim dan cara musisi dapat turut berkontribusi dalam mengatasi isu ini.
Album ‘sonic/panic’ terdiri dari 13 lagu dari 13 musisi dengan berbagai genre seperti hip-hop, rock, blues, electronica, reggae, pop, hingga world music. Adapun topik yang diangkat di tiap lagu juga beragam seperti isu krisis iklim, degradasi alam, polusi plastik, dan panggilan untuk aksi nyata secara kolektif.
Para musisi pun menceritakan pengalaman mereka dalam press conference yang berlangsung kemarin di Jakarta.
“Aku paling cengeng sepanjang workshop dan sempat mengalami mental breakdown di hari kedua. Ini merupakan masalah yang berat, dan sebagai musisi, kami harus punya cara untuk mengekspresikan kekhawatiran, ketakutan. Meski bukan bermaksud menakut-nakuti, faktanya ada semua, bahwa di kurun waktu tertentu krisis ini akan terjadi. Paska workshop waktu itu aku hampir tidak bisa ikut press conference di Bali karena aku merasa hancur melihat kenyataan yang terjadi,” ujar Endah Widiastuti dari Endah N Rhesa dalam kesempatan yang sama.
Menurutnya, harus ada gerakan masif di mana semua pihak perlu terlibat demi generasi yang akan datang. “Rasanya tidak adil kalau kita sudah tua, atau sudah tidak ada, tetapi menyisakan suatu hal yang tidak kita perjuangkan dengan baik,” tambahnya.
Rapper Upi atau Tuantigabelas merasakan pengalaman yang hampir sama. “Saya
“menyesal” mengikuti workshop di Bali waktu itu, karena dipaparkan fakta yang banyak dan menakutkan. Hari pertama kami semua masih bisa ngobrol. Hari kedua semua terdiam. Ini bumi bagaimana ya? Faktanya bikin kita bengong. Aku sama Endah sempat makan bareng, lalu saling pandang dan kita tanpa sadar menangis. Ini serius sekali. Ini adalah tongkat estafet yang harus disampaikan dalam bentuk yang aku tahu, yaitu musik,” ujarnya.
Menurut Upi, seluruh lagu dalam album ini merupakan suara terdalam dari para musisi. “Ini adalah lagu yang paling sulit yang pernah saya tulis. Jadi ada khawatir, putus asa, tapi harus punya harapan karena saya punya tiga anak. Saya tidak mau bumi ini habis begitu saja buat generasi berikutnya,” tambahnya.
Sense of Urgency
Dalam kesempatan yang sama, Gede Robi dari band Navicula mengungkapkan bahwa musisi sebagai bagian dari masyarakat juga ingin terlibat dalam menyuarakan isu ini melalui ‘sonic/panic’. “Sonic adalah audio. Panic ada sense of urgency. Kami sebagai musisi berkontribusi terhadap negara karena tujuan negara memang harus membersihkan emisi Indonesia sesuai target 2060,” ungkap Robi.
Lagu ‘Plastic Tree’ milik Endah N Rhesa misalnya yang menggambarkan dunia tanpa pohon, yang digantikan oleh replika plastik. Lagu ini menjadi pengingat yang kuat tentang dampak lingkungan dari tindakan kita.
“Kami membawa imajinasi jika di dunia ini tidak ada pohon, tidak ada burung yang bernyanyi, ayam berkokok, lebah memanfaatkan baterai supaya mereka bisa terbang, segalanya lebih artifisial. Semua jadi mengagumkan tapi menyeramkan. Kita jangan menganggap remeh kemampuan kita menemukan hal hal baru, tetapi ada risiko juga. Ada kemegahan, ada kehancuran, ketakutan. Jadi mixed feelings,” ujarnya.
Ia menambahkan, pada bagian akhir lagu ini, Endah n Rhesa menyatakan permohonan maaf kepada bumi, karena selama hidup yang dijalani, manusia telah merugikan atau menghancurkan. “Kita tidak pernah tahu, apakah perjuangan ini akan ada hasilnya. Jadi kita minta maaf, dan paling tidak kita sudah berusaha,” ungkapnya.
Pada lagu ‘House on Fire’ band Navicula menyuarakan pemanasan global dan spirit kolaborasi. “Navicula berdiri sejak 1996 dan kami sejak awal membicarakan isu lingkungan. Tetapi meskipun sepertinya sudah gencar mengangkat isu ini, rasanya tidak ada perubahan. Kami menyadari rasanya harus lebih banyak kolaborasi. Jadi spirit lagu ‘House on Fire’ ini adalah kolaboratif. Bahwa alangkah besarnya gaung ini jika semua industri kreatif membicarakan isu ini,” ujarnya.
Iga Massardi berkolaborasi dengan musisi asal Madura, Badrus Zeman, mengusung lagu berjudul Polo Nyaba (Pulau Nafas). “Sepulang saya dari Bali, kami ngobrol, brainstorm dan mengerjakan lagu ini yang bercerita tentang pulau terpencil yang punya indeks oksigen paling bagus di dunia. Lagu ini menggambarkan peperangan antara yang baik dan serakah,” ujar Iga. Karya ini merupakan pengingat yang menyentuh tentang krisis iklim saat ini, serta mendorong pendengar untuk merenungkan keseimbangan alam yang rapuh.
Album ‘sonic/panic’ yang cover artworknya didesain oleh Sirin Farid Stevy, visual artist sekaligus vokalis band FSTVLST, akan segera diluncurkan secara serentak di seluruh platform streaming digital pada tanggal 4 November mendatang.
Dalam rangka peluncuran album, akan diadakan juga IKLIM Fest di area parkir Monkey Forest Ubud, Bali pada tanggal yang sama. Hampir seluruh musisi yang terlibat di album ‘sonic/panic’ akan hadir di perhelatan ini untuk bersama menyuarakan kepeduliannya terhadap bumi dan lingkungan.
