Electric motorcycle is one form of eco-friendly renewable energy products. In the future, the government hopes that electric motorcycle can replace oil-fueled motorcycle (BBM). As we know, the use of oil-fueled motorcycle (BBM) is massive in Indonesia and the need for fuel oil is increasing. Considering the need for fuel oil (BBM) in Indonesia is still mostly imported, this electric motorcycle is one of the reasons so that Indonesian people do not continue to depend on fuel oil.

The replacement of the use of oil-fueled motorcycle (BBM) into electric motorcycle provides benefits for the environment and humans. The use of electric motorcycle can reduce pollution levels because electric motorcycle do not produce carbon dioxide gas from fuel oil which is harmful to the environment and humans. This electric motor uses an environmentally friendly electrical energy source, so it does not pollute the environment.

Electric motorcycle can save energy costs compared to oil-fueled motorcycle (BBM). The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) explained that the comparison of incurred cost by electric motorcycle is only RP. 6000 – Rp. 7000 to take a distance of 30 km and Rp. 12,000 – Rp. 14,000 to take a distance of 60 km, while an oil-fueled motorcycle (BBM) costs Rp. 24,000 to take a distance of 60 km.

To support the increase of the use of electric motorcycle in Indonesia, the government has started to build a Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) to facilitate charging energy sources for use in electric vehicles. The General Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) is built by relying on solar panels to provide a source of electrical energy for electric vehicles. Solar panels that are used as a source of electrical energy derived from solar energy are also environmentally friendly because they do not produce carbon dioxide emissions that cause greenhouse gas effects and affect the climate.
