Project Summary

The Indonesian Domestic Biogas Program (IDBP) is a sustainable initiative supporting smallholder farmers in rural Indonesia to develop renewable energy through biogas installations. This program not only reduces dependence on firewood and fossil fuels but also provides affordable clean energy solutions for rural communities.

Program Description

This program develops a market-oriented domestic biogas sector by:

  • Distributing biogas digesters as a sustainable local energy source.
  • Creating business opportunities for construction companies.
  • Providing jobs for local builders.
  • Offering subsidies from carbon funding to farmers.
  • Facilitating loan access through local cooperatives.

Program Achievements (2009-2023)

  • Total Installations: 28,557 biogas digesters
  • Bio-slurry Users: 9,043 households
  • Emission Reduction: 528,781 tons of CO2 (verified 2011-2023)
