- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geospatial Science, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, Geography, Forestry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the same position.
- Strong experience with QGIS, ArcGIS Pro, and other equivalent GIS tools.
- Proficiency in processing satellite imagery, working with Google Earth Engine (GEE), and applying SAR data for remote sensing applications.
- Experience with PostGIS, SQL, and structured spatial databases is preferred.
- Knowledge of Python or R for geospatial data processing and automation is a plus.
- Experience in land cover classification and accuracy assessment using machine learning techniques is a plus.
- Ability to use Looker Studio to develop interactive dashboards, integrating multiple tables for geospatial analytics.
- Strong skills in cartography, map design, and geospatial storytelling for reports and presentations.
- Familiarity with MRV methodologies, carbon accounting frameworks, and geospatial monitoring approaches is highly desirable.
- Ability to work with complex datasets, solve problems effectively, and implement efficient workflows.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to document and present spatial data findings clearly.

- Geospatial Data Collection and Management
◦ Collect, compile, preprocess, and analyze geospatial data from various sources (e.g., open-source providers, REST services, non-georeferenced maps, government GIS datasets).
◦ Ensure structured storage and organization of GIS datasets using formats such as GeoPackages (QGIS), GeoDataFrames (ArcGIS Pro), or PostGIS (SQL-based spatial database management).
◦ Perform spatial data queries and filtering for large datasets to improve processing efficiency.
◦ Maintain version control and documentation for geospatial datasets and processing workflows. - Remote Sensing and Image Processing
◦ Process satellite imagery using Google Earth Engine (GEE), SNAP, ENVI, or equivalent remote sensing tools for remotely sensed data such as Landsat, Sentinel, etc.
◦ Apply machine learning techniques and model accuracy evaluation for land cover classification and other application.
◦ Utilize Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data for advanced remote sensing applications (preferred).
◦ Conduct land use change analysis, biomass estimation, and vegetation monitoring to support carbon project requirements.
◦ Work with high resolution satellite imagery for verification needs. - GIS Analysis, Visualization, and Dashboard Development
◦ Perform spatial analysis to generate insights for carbon projects and potential project areas.
◦ Develop cartographically accurate maps and visualizations for internal reporting and stakeholder communication.
◦ Build interactive dashboards using Looker Studio to integrate multiple data tables and provide dynamic insights for reporting and decision-making.
◦ Automate and optimize dashboard performance to handle large datasets efficiently. - GIS and MRV System Integration
◦ Work with relational databases (PostgreSQL/PostGIS) to store, query, and manage spatial data (if needed).
◦ Ensure seamless integration of GIS data into carbon MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification) workflows.
◦ Develop geospatial workflows and scripts (Python, R, SQL) to enhance data processing and reporting efficiency is preferred.
◦ Collaborate with field teams to standardize geospatial data collection methodologies for MRV compliance. - Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) Support
◦ Assist in designing methodologies for land use change monitoring, carbon stock assessment, and field measurement.
◦ Support project teams in reporting spatial data for verification processes.
◦ Ensure alignment of spatial data outputs with Verra, Gold Standard, and other carbon certification requirements.
◦ Stay updated on geospatial advancements and integrate new methodologies into project workflows. - Other GIS and MRV-Related Tasks
◦ Support additional GIS-related tasks based on project needs, such as spatial modeling, carbon stock estimation improvements, or geospatial data policy compliance.
◦ Assist in developing new GIS methodologies or implementing innovative geospatial technologies to enhance project efficiency.
◦ Provide technical support for GIS applications in cross-functional project teams.
