Kompor listrik bukanlah sebuah teknologi baru di indonesia. Model kompor ini telah ada sejak tahun 1970an, tetapi belum masif populer seperti di masa kini.

Pada awal tahun 2019, pemerintah bersama PT PLN mengusulkan program konversi kompor Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) 3 kg ke kompor induksi. Target masyarakat yang dituju, yaitu golongan menengah ke atas. Hal ini dikarenakan kompor induksi membutuhkan kapasitas listrik besar, paling minimum berkisar di 900 VA.

Program ini bertujuan untuk melebarkan transisi energi yang menghasilkan minim emisi dibandingkan penggunaan gas tabung. Selain itu, dilansir dari RDP Komisi VII, dengan PT PLN program konversi listrik ini memberikan dampak penghematan APBN sebesar Rp 330 miliar/tahun untuk 300 ribu KPM (Keluarga Penerima Manfaat).

Kompor listrik atau kompor induksi merupakan hasil dari pengubahan energi listrik menjadi energi sumber panas. Sehingga, pada proses memasak, kompor ini tidak menghasilkan api.

Berdasarkan cara penghantaran panasnya, kompor listrik terbagi dalam dua jenis, yaitu kompor listrik konvensional dan kompor listrik induksi. Kompor listrik konvensional membutuhkan konduksi (media perpindahan panas) seperti logam yang akan mengalir ke permukaan kompor, sedangkan kompor listrik induksi membutuhkan arus listrik yang bolak-balik sehingga menghasilkan medan magnet dan hantaran panas.

Mengapa Harus Kompor Listrik?

Kompor listrik yang masih populer hingga saat ini dikenal sebagai teknologi yang ramah lingkungan serta lebih hemat, dibandingkan kompor yang menggunakan tabung gas. Berikut ini alasan yang harus dipertimbangkan untuk beralih sekarang ke kompor listrik.

1. Efisiensi Energi

Kompor listrik menghasilkan panas yang maksimal dan minim pengurangan, sehingga dapat mempercepat proses masak. Hal ini berbeda ketika menggunakan kompor dari tabung gas karena menghasilkan api yang dapat berpindah panasnya ke lingkungan dan membutuhkan waktu lebih lama menghantarkan panas ke panci. Tingkat efisiensi kompor listrik mencapai 90 persen dibandingkan kompor gas tabung yang hanya 60–70 persen.

2. Mengurangi emisi

Kompor listrik sebagai solusi dan gerakan aktif yang dapat dilakukan dalam rangka mengurangi emisi skala keluarga. Pada penggunaan kompor biasa dengan api dan gas minyak, akan menghasilkan emisi berupa karbon monoksida, nitrogen dioksida, dan formaldehisa selama proses memasak.

Berdasarkan penelitian dari Universitas stanford pada jurnal Environmental Science & Technology, penggunaan kompor gas di Amerika mampu menghasilkan gas rumah kaca sama dengan 500 ribu mobil.

Bayangkan jika kita setiap hari memasak dan menghirup udara tersebut setiap hari, tentu saja memiliki dampak dan resiko dimasa yang akan datang. Hal ini ditambah dengan ventilasi yang minim dapat memperbanyak jumlah dari emisi tersebut.

3. Daya tarif listrik relatif stabil

Kompor listrik selain ramah lingkungan dikenal lebih terjangkau, benarkah begitu?

Nyatanya penggunaan kompor listrik membutuhkan minimal 900 VA untuk menyalakannya. Dapat dicontohkan seperti menggunakan kompor listrik selama satu bulan dengan ukuran 60–70 kwh sehingga diperoleh tarif listrik Rp605 untuk golongan 900 VA, maka harga yang harus dibayarkan berkisar Rp36.300 sampai dengan Rp42.350.

Hal yang dapat dilihat adalah kestabilan dari tarif listrik yang jauh lebih stabil dibandingkan harga tabung gas yang mudah naik karena inflasi maupun stok pasar.

4. Keamanan

Kebocoran kompor gas seringkali tidak disadari awal mulanya dan baru akan mengetahui setelah tercium bau belerang yang sangat kuat. Penggunaan kompor listrik dapat meminimalisir hal itu dan mengurangi resiko ledakan atau kebakaran jika terdeteksi.

5. Pengaturan Suhu

Mengatur suhu merupakan salah satu dari efisiensi yang dihasilkan. Memakai kompor ini dapat memudahkan untuk menyesuaikan suhu dengan bahan makanan yang sedang dimasak.
