This project activity generates electricity using renewable solar energy. The electricity produced is exported to the regional grid system under the oversight of India’s national electricity grid (INDIAN GRID). The project contributes to the reduction of anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions, with an estimated reduction of approximately 694,471 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO₂e) per year, by replacing electricity generation of about 732,874 MWh annually with renewable energy. Furthermore, the project helps diversify the electricity generation mix connected to India’s grid, which is currently still largely dominated by fossil fuel-based power plants.
Project Impacts and Benefits:
During the current monitoring period, SB Energy has conducted 27 training sessions focused on community education and capacity building, including:
- World No Tobacco Day Awareness Training
Organized to raise awareness about the impact of tobacco on heart health and the actions communities can take to reduce their risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Cardiovascular diseases, including strokes, are the leading cause of death globally, and tobacco use is the second leading cause of CVDs. - Firefighting Training
Aimed at reviewing the organization’s emergency preparedness plans and evaluating standard operating procedures. The training ensures that employees and involved stakeholders can perform their duties effectively during emergencies while maintaining the safety of life and property. - Medical and Nutrition Camps
These initiatives promote the use of locally available nutritious food. The goal is to improve the nutritional status of the community, especially target families. The approach uses food preparation methods to raise awareness about the importance of consuming fruits, vegetables, and other nutritious food items. Organizers also gave presentations emphasizing the importance of dietary diversity in enhancing nutrition and community knowledge. - Employment Opportunities Created: 10 jobs
- Street Light Installation by SoftBank
SoftBank has installed street lights in the vicinity of the project area to enhance road traffic safety.
